Taking a curbside pilot into full-scale operation.
Article Abstract:
The collection of pilot data allows efficient implementation of a curbside recycling project, introduced in Hollywood, Florida. Semiautomatic and manual collection bins are being used. All types of materials such as glass, plastic steel, aluminum and aseptic containers are put into one container. Newspapers are collected in separate bins for recycling and subsequent corrugation. Both types of containers are placed in separate compartments of the same truck. The entire program is monitored by a student from the Broward County Office of Integrated Waste Management.

Overview of composting in the U.K
Article Abstract:
The Composting Assn conducted a survey of compost plants operating in the UK to study the difficulties they are faced with. Most of the plants were located in England while one was in Wales and the other three in Scotland. The increase of composting operations from a handful in the early 1990 to at least 60 sites in 1998 demonstrates the upward trend that the composting industry is experiencing in the UK. One of the problems that they encountered at the time was the lack of government incentive, the lack of capital funding and marketing problems.
