The super bowl of recycling
Article Abstract:
The National Football League has contracted the help of Arizona Clean and Beautiful, recycling companies in Phoenix, AZ and Groh Assoc. in developing a solid waste management strategy for the 1996 Super Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ. The strategy involves encouraging food and beverage vendors to pre-sort their recyclables and the placement of trash bins in strategic locations around the stadium. Another key element of the strategy is the establishment of a food bank, from which unconsumed food items can be delivered and given to the homeless and disadvantaged.

Paper mill reopens its doors
Article Abstract:
The Patriot Paper Company mill in Hyde Park, Massachusetts has shut down. Bay State Paper has taken over helping the recyclers in that region by providing a new end user. Patriot Paper, which produced 80,000 tons annually of 100% recycled writing paper, index cards and other office products was unable to finance improvements in its deinking operation. Three executives of Bay State Paper opened a manufacturing plant in this closed facility.
