Selling recycling in a "soft" disposal climate
Article Abstract:
Legal and regulatory pressures on landfills have resulted in a short-term capacity bulge in Illinois due to the decrease in the number of landfills. This has led to the need for landfills to conquer a greater portion of the market. There has been a steady decline in the amount of waste that is required to be disposed of with the increasing success of recycling programs. Landfills need to reduce their prices to attract more waste.

Rolling back state recycling programs
Article Abstract:
The federal government's plans to downsize financial aid to state Waste Management Agencies is likely to hinder the implementation of various recycling and waste diversion programs which are in the planning stage. However, local governments will strive to attain good waste recycling rates by overcoming these financial constraints.
