Tyne and Wear cracks down on attacks on staff

Article Abstract:

The Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service has launched new ways of tracking down individuals who attack its personnel. The Service's vehicles and equipment carry DNA swab collection kits and enhanced closed-circuit television. Details of the measures, which are aimed at properly investigating the attacks on emergency service workers, are given.

Guests evacuated following theme park blaze in Staffordshire

Article Abstract:

Around 500 guests at the Alton Towers theme park were evacuated after a fire started at the Skyride station. Fifty firefighters from the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to the call with eight appliances in attendance. Results of the fire investigation are provided.

New smoke detectors make Tyne and Wear safer

Article Abstract:

The Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service is installing the latest tamper-proof smoke detectors as part of an effort to reduce the incidence of fires in the area. The detectors have a special component battery and are guaranteed to work for 10 years.
