Urban search and rescue - upping the ante
Article Abstract:
The role of UK fire brigades has expanded in recent times, as reflected in the adoption of the fire and rescue name. Urban search and rescue (USAR) kept up with the need to update personal protective equipment to protect firefighters against health hazards. Details on the UK Fire Service Search and Rescue Team (UKFSSART), the new USAR kit, and new response guidelines are presented.

Pump it up: support services to the rescue
Article Abstract:
A special emergency team from AssetCo provided urgently needed drinking water to stranded Gloucestershire communities during the July and August 2007 floods in the UK. The team operated 14,500 liter bulk water tankers during the floods. The same equipment will soon be provided by AssetCo to the London Fire Brigade.
