Electromagnetic flow measurement in partially filled pipes
Article Abstract:
A new electromagnetic flow measurement (MEF) system has been developed to measure flows in partially filled pipes. The system, which is designed as replacement for plumes and weirs, offers full pipe accuracy of 1% of rate, while accuracy in the partially filled mode is 3%-5% of rate depending on fill height. The EMF system also maintains the plus or minus 5% errror limit throughout a 1,000:1 range.

Automated meter reading (AMR) is gaining popularity among utilities in the US. The benefits the AMR system offers have been experienced by such communities as Aurora, CO, Euless, TX, Oshkosh, WI, and Falls Church, VA.
