The 100 Most Influential Hispanics for 1997 is a survey aimed at determining what top thinkers consider to be the biggest challenge facing Hispanics. The survey involves Hispanic academics, educators and individuals who improved the quality of life for Hispanics in urban and inner city communities.

The use of a chihuahua in a recent Taco Bell advertisement is receiving contrasting views from the Hispanic American community. Some Hispanics felt degraded with the use of a Hispanic-oriented pet. However, other advertising executives feel otherwise.
