Castaneda charts ambitious course in Miami
Article Abstract:
Castaneda was editor-in-chief of El Nuevo Dia in Puerto Rico for almost 25 years before taking over the leadership of El Nuevo Herald. El Nuevo Herald was an insert of the Miami Herald until last year, and it is now distributed separately. Castaneda plans to create a paper that is easy to read and visually oriented for the TV generation. Sports pages, better local coverage, cultural developments and art criticism have been added. One of the main challenges facing the paper is its increasing independence from the Miami Herald.
