Issues concerning the building of a private toll highway in Texas to connect the US-Mexico border with Interstate 35 are discussed. The Camino Colombia highway is mainly Hispanic owned and is the largest project made possible by Hispanic co-operation.

Issues are presented concerning the growing success of maquiladoras or in-bond plants in Mexico. The reasons for the success of the maquiladoras which has grown to 3,200 plants in 2000 from 2,030 plants in 1995 are discussed.
