The Overseas Civil Service
Article Abstract:
Between 1961 and 1967, Peter Hinchliffe worked for the Overseas Civil Service, for the West Aden Protectorate, which later became known as the South Arabian Federation. The Service's hasty departure from Aden is not one of the Service's most peaceful retreats from colonial rule. An overview of Hinchliffe's experience in Aden is given, along with details of John Gullick's experience in Malaya between 1946-57.
