The fe-male spaces of modernism: a Western Canadian perspective
Article Abstract:
Women played increasingly prominent roles in house design between 1946 and 1965, as demonstrated by development of the North Shore area of Vancouver, British Columbia. However, this apparently modernist project masked continuing conservative, male-dominated constructions of the feminine role in domestic design.
