The long road to free trade

Article Abstract:

The complex interests of global economic development, business and politics have created uncertainty over U.S. efforts on the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) and the Free Trade Area of the Americas pact with Central and South American countries. The progress on CAFTA is likely to be hampered by the continued pressure by opponents, whereas the economic crisis in Argentina, and the dispute between Brazil and the U.S. have cast a shadow over the deal's future.

A decade of NAFTA

Article Abstract:

The debate over the economic impact of North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) continues, even as the trilateral pact marks its 10th anniversary. Although NAFTA boosted trade and investment and benefited the businesses, it is alleged that the promised benefits have failed to emerge, thousands of jobs are lost, and the gains are uneven.
