Twists and turns pay off: Despite signs of a comeback, challenges remain for the financial sector
Article Abstract:
The financial sector's performance has risen steadily since October 2005, and leading the comeback are insurers, investment banks and brokerages, which had a tough year in 2005 with the hurricanes, and 2006 could be a year of recovery. Banks may face a more challenging year, mainly because of rising interest rates and a declining housing market, while some financial firms are recording huge gains and are expected to continue the same trend in 2006.
