Changing Fatherhood: An Interdisciplinary Practice
Article Abstract:
The book "Changing Fatherhood: An Interdisciplinary Perspective" focuses on fatherhood from a variety of perspectives, topics, and contexts. The book is a collection of ten comment papers presented at the international conference on changing fatherhood at Tilburg University, Netherlands in 1994. It presents essays from many disciplines, such as history, sociology, developmental psychology, and biology. However, the book fails to focus on some aspects of fatherhood, although it presents many creative ideas and raises new questions.

Predicting spanking of younger and older children by mothers and fathers
Article Abstract:
Data from the National Survey of Families were used in investigating what characteristics of parents lead to adoption of spanking as a way of disciplining younger and older children. Incidences of spanking for boys were found to be higher compared to girls, and children, aged seven years old and above, had less probability of getting spanked compared to younger children. Black mothers were also found to have a higher tendency to spank.
