Family support to single and married African American mothers: the provision of financial, emotional, and child care assistance
Article Abstract:
A study by the Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan, used data from The National Survey of Black Americans (NSBA) to explore the financial, emotional and child care assistance that single and married African American mothers received from their families. It revealed the relationship that marital status has with financial and emotional support received, poverty ratio, and proximity of the immediate family.

Research into the factors influencing the increasing incidence of working mothers in the US is presented. The force of uncertain economic conditions acting as impetus to changing attitudes towards working mothers is studied.
