Cohabiting, dating, and perceived costs of marriage: a model of marriage entry
Article Abstract:
This article examines the influence of cohabiting over the decision to enter marriage. The author, comparing the decision to marry among couples in cohabiting and noncohabiting relationships, maintains cohabitation influences the perceived costs and benefits of marriage, which influences intentions and expectations, and impacts the decision to enter marriage.

Entry into parenthood and the outcome of cohabiting partnerships in Britain
Article Abstract:
Research into the patterns of childbirth of cohabiting couples in Britain is presented. Using data from the nation cohort study of those born in 1958, the impact of conception and birth in prompting marriage among cohabitors is analysed.
