Intergenerational transmission of marital quality and marital instability
Article Abstract:
The intergenerational transmission of marital quality and instability and the effect of parental divorce on children's marital quality was investigated using longitudinal data. Results suggest that parental divorce increased daughters' likelihood of divorce, although it had little impact on children's marital quality. Possible mechanisms involved in the intergenerational transmissions of marital instability and quality are discussed.
