Families in New Jersey may earn extra cash to taking care of the elderly and infirm in their families' homes. The alternative to nursing homes works on a similar principle as foster care for children. A family may earn roughly $1,200 a month. The program costs the state less than half the costs of a nursing home bed. Social Security and Medicaid pays for many patients.

Parents are advised to establish a framework for their children under which home-based schoolwork is to be accomplished, and to make themselves available as resources to help with its completion. Most experts do not approve of the use of rewards for finishing homework.
