Parents should not get needlessly worried if their children develop extreme preference for such inanimate objects as stuffed toys or blankets. Although children turn to security or attachment objects only to soothe them in times of distress, these objects may also teach children problem-solving and relationship-building skills and may even help carry them from insecurity to independence.
