Four women who underwent new treatments for different forms of cancer and recovered describe the treatment and how their battle with cancer affected their lives. One woman recovered from ovarian cancer with the aid of Taxol, and another one survived non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with a monoclonal antibody.

Animal heroes: four pets prove to be loyal, brave and real lifesavers

Some pets actually save their owners' lives. Girl, a German shepherd, helped save her owner's life by getting his wife's attention after a chain-saw accident nearly severed the man's foot. Three cats helped alert their owner by pouncing on her when someone was trying to break into her home.

Cancer vaccines: they will be lifesavers, but not for everyone

Research indicates that an experimental vaccine can increase the survival rate of patients with melanoma by 15% or more. The side effects include redness, itching and flu-like symptoms. Researchers are studying the use of vaccines on other types of cancer.
