Article Abstract:
One-quarter of all malignant melanoma patients are under 40 years old. Mothers should take care to protect themselves, as well as their children, from over- exposure to the sun. Melanoma is the result of cumulative lifetime exposure, so it is never too late for parents to begin good protective practices.

Regularly exposing infants to sunlight helps them to establish normal sleep patterns. Infants under six months of age should not be exposed directly to sunlight. The proper sunscreen should be used, and prolonged exposure to the sun should be avoided.
