The relationship between the Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS) and indicators of functioning
Article Abstract:
The effectiveness of the Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS) in measuring functioning problems was noted after an analysis was made on a sample involving 3187 youths with serious emotional disturbance. The sample reveals that risk factors such as previous psychiatric hospitalization and severe psychiatric diagnoses were associated with higher impairment. On the other hand, less association with more restrictive living situations and with vital behavioral markers was found to be associated with lower impairment.

State hospital reentry among youth with serious emotional disturbance: A longitudinal analysis
Article Abstract:
The readmission by children to state run inpatient psychiatric hospitals was investigated with regard to the demographic, service history and clinical aspects. Results indicated that reentry was most likely to occur amongst African American youths and those diagnosed with psychotic disorders. Less frequent reentry was observed among youths diagnosed with depressive disorders and those living in areas with organized, community based, mental health services.
