Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the scientific support behind the benefits of eating chocolate are discussed. The properties of chocolate responsible for the chemical reactions generating vitality in the body are described. Research studies confirming the health-improving qualities of chocolate are presented, including a study on longevity in men published in the British Medical Journal in 1999. Methods of using chocolate for therapy and beauty treatments are also described.

Article Abstract:

The Food and Drug Administration has pulled the most widely used diet drug fen/phen from the market following reports of its dangerous effect on the valves of the heart. The prestigious Mayo Clinic has reported that the drug, which is a combination of fenfluramine and phentermine, cause damages to the valves of the heart.

The experience of extreme hiking in the Himalayas is described. Training beforehand took place in the Rockies and the Grand Tetons of Wyoming. Many years later the author attempts more extreme hiking in the Anza-Borrego desert area.
