A fork in the road at the New York Times
Article Abstract:
The Times naming of their new restaurant critic as Frank Bruni and chief wine critic as Eric Asimov amidst widespread criticism of their interim restaurant critic Amanda Hesser is reported. Asimov's appointment is in line with the Times tradition of seeking expertise and experience in its critics but Bruni's appointment to the most important position in American restaurant reviewing takes the paper in a different direction due to his lack of specialized knowledge in this field.
