Blending bends the rules too far
Article Abstract:
Current law only requires 85% of a wine be from the appellation specified on the bottle, while 15% may come from elsewhere. Some vintners have taken advantage of this, charging consumers higher prices for wines not labelled as blended. One solution would be for vintners to adopt a 100% rule which would guarantee a wine is entirely from the indicated appellation.

America's wine matrix
Article Abstract:
Bordeaux is one of the world's dominant fine-wine producers and the envy of vintners everywhere. Many wines in the US originally borrowed their names from Europe, right down to Burgundy, Chambertin or Sauternes, which were used in America for decades while Bordeaux is used by some of them as their benchmark.
