Champagnes and sparkling wines have a reputation for going well with almost any kind of food. Understanding differences in types of champagne is useful in preparing a menu with which to serve. Distinctions between champagnes and sparkling wines and menu recommendations are included.

Sonoma's celebration: spirits and proceeds soar at Sonoma County Showcase and Wine Auction

A $45,600 bid by Saralee's Vineyard owner got her several bottles of Rutz Pinot Noir Dutton Ranch 1994, several dinners and a trip for two to Paris. Proceeds of the 16th annual auction went to benefit the Boys' and Girls' Clubs of Sonoma County. The take totaled $379,925.

Article Abstract:
Pinot Gris is not sweet or tangy and thus goes well with many dishes. Recipes are given for fresh Mozzarella with shrimp, poached salmon with leek and potato cream, mixed salad with asiago and oranges with strawberry sauce.
