Consumers' first opportunity to buy Burgundy comes about a year after the harvest especially when the best producers offer them. Many of the wines that are in high demand are sold on pre-arrival basis, either pre-arrivals or through the secondary market, which is also known as the gray market.

Millennium madness descends on Bordeaux

An overview is presented of the activities in the Bordeaux region of France in March 2001 when the international wine trade arrived to taste the wines from the acclaimed millennium production year. Over a period of a week, the 'Wine Spectator' website posted in excess of 400 tasting notes.

Grand Awards banquet honors Piero Antinori
