CPS ahead in Q1 but warns of charge next time

Article Abstract:

Food group CPC International of the US increased sales to around $2.15 billion in first quarter 1997 from 2.01 billion in same period 1996, with operating profits rising to $233.1 million from $217.4 million. Packaged foods sales increased 3.2% to $1.75 billion and operating profits grew 10.5% to $231 million. Sales grew 8.4% in Latin America while operating profit increased only 2.8%. Sales at CPC Europe grew 1.9%, while operating profits increased 19%. Sales of North American division Best Foods grew 4.2% by value, while operating profits increased 7%.

Diageo results show merger is working

Article Abstract:

Diageo has reported operating profits of GBP1.9 bil. for 1998. These results, the first posted since the merger of Guinness and Grand Metropolitan, are 5% higher than those reported in 1997 by the food and drink company. The company's fast-food division realized operating profits of GBP179 million, an increase of 11% from 1997's operating profits of GBP160 million. The increase for this division was driven mostly by profits generated by Burger King's European operations.

CPC beats Q2 expectations

Article Abstract:

CPC International of the US, a food company, has reported better than expected results in 2nd qtr 1995 with income of $142 million and solid volume growth in most of its operations. Its north American consumer foods division, Best Foods, saw a rise in sales of 4.1% and Mazola and Knorr saw volumes rise. Food sales in Asia rose by 20%, and there was continuing investment in its new plants in Beijing and Guangzhou.
