Cabernet Sauvignon's roots run both red and white

Article Abstract:

Recent dNA tests indicate that Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc are probably ancestors of Cabernet Sauvignon. The two grapes probably cross pollinated accidentally about 300 years ago to form Cabernet Sauvignon, according to an article in Nature Genetics.

A case for decanting

Article Abstract:

Aged wines should be decanted because sediment can develop in the bottle. The wine bottle should be stood upright for about three days before decanting. The decanter need not be fancy. White wines usually do not need to be decanted.

Article Abstract:

Visitors to California's Napa Valley can enjoy golfing at one of the region's many fine golf courses. Many are open to the public, although two, the Silverado and Meadowood, are only open to members and registered guests.
