Many California Cabernets of the 1978 vintage have held up extremely well. Several of these wines that fall into the category of excellent are rated on a scale of one to 100, with tasting notes and prices provided. A Diamond Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Lake at $275 is rated 97.

Napa native Gary Galleron makes his own Cabernet

Galleron's career as a winemaker spans two decades, and he is releasing his own wine for the first time. His 1993 Napa Valley CAbernet Sauvignon, priced at $40, merits a Wine Spectator rating of 88 on a scale of one to 100. Other wine news is also presented.

High-flying Napa cabernet
Article Abstract:
This new cabernet is extraordinary in taste but very difficult to find. It comes from a small winery in Oakville, CA, and is not highly produced. Screaming Eagle is owned by Jean Phillips and Tony Bowden. The 1994 vintage costs $50.
