Power shifts in food business favour retailers

Multinational and specialised food companies with strong brands will be able to defend their market position successfully against the rise of private labels, according to an international food industry study by Rabobank. Food companies are still seeking growth in developed markets and retail chains have a knowledge of consumer preference which will strengthen their position. Some manufacturers are seeking growth in Asia and Latin America.

Better times ahead for Romania food industry
Article Abstract:
There is expected to be renewed growth in the Romanian food industry over the coming years, now that the fall in production has been halted. Production in products such as cheese, sugar and edible oil is expected to rise. High customs tariffs are placed on imported foodstuffs to protect the domestic food industries from foreign competition.
