Article Abstract:
Dinners in the US in the 1800s and earlier were simple affairs characterized more by their simplicity and abundance than by any hint of culture. Culinary styles were a mixture of different ethnic influences. Old World cooking used native American ingredients to come up with uniquely American concoctions.
