"First families" place first for many with 12 amazing wines

Article Abstract:

During the November, 1998 California Wine Experience conference in San Francisco, CA the largest wine tasting was of family run wineries. Entitled 'Premium Familiae Vini,' many of the wineries represented were Europeans. Wines were excellent and much support was shown for the family businesses that are able to thrive in the face of corporate competition.

New tests find evidence of wine at the dawn of civilization

Article Abstract:

Nature magazine researchers have discovered evidence of winemaking from 5000 BC among Zagros Mountain neolithic villagers. New test procedures of items found at excavation sites near the city that is now Urmia and other topics are discussed.

Austria's high plateau

Austria's table wines, especially the whites made from Riesling and Gruner Veltliner offer rich flavors and impressive structures, making them very food-friendly and the 2005 Gruner Veltliners closely rival the Rieslings in quality.
