United Biscuits suffers 100 million pounds sterling loss after disposals
Article Abstract:
The sale of United Biscuit's Keebler and spanish KP businesses has resulted in the company losing 100 million pounds sterling during 1995. All areas of the company have been performing poorly during this financial period due to difficult and highly competitive trading conditions, although KP and Keebler were continually underperforming. McVities biscuits sales rose to 630 million pounds although high prices on raw materials resulted in poor profit figures at the end of the year.

Survey pinpoints nutritional deficiencies among the elderly
Article Abstract:
Serious nutritional deficiencies can be established in more than two-thirds of elderly people living in urban environments in the UK, according to research undertaken by the Economic and Social Research Council. Nutritional deficiencies are particularly common in elderly men living alone, who tend to eat very little fruit and vegetables. Those aged over 85 generally eat only small amounts, and this can lead to vitamin and nutrient deficiencies.
