Is 1997 red Burgundy worth it?
Article Abstract:
The 1997 red Burgundy vintage is an erratic one, with some worthy wines among many overpriced disappointments. Many of the grapes had very low acidity, and winemakers compensated by adding tartaric acid and commercial sugar during fermentation, violating French policy. The top scoring wine was Philippe Charlopin-Parizot Charmes-Chambertin 1997 ($92), scoring 95 on the 100-point scale.
