Italian consumer test shows good quality is possible at low prices
Article Abstract:
A report by Comitato Difesa Consumatori of Milan compared spaghetti brands from several discount stores compared with leading manufacturer Barilla. The lesser known varieties were of acceptable quality although they used cheaper raw materials and had poor conservation qualities. However they sell for about 490-590 Lit compared to Barilla's 990-1,250. Barilla has already had to reduce its prices by 10% and may have to reduce them more.
