JAPAN: ACESULFAME K MAY BE APPROVED SOON
Article Abstract:
At the beginning of 1999, both Takeda Chemical Industries and Nutrinova Japan applied jointly for the approval of Acesulfame K, the high intensity sweetener which has been approved in more than 90 countries throughout the world, including Europe and North America. The safety and usefulness of Acesulfame K has already been confirmed by the Japanese Ministry of Health Food Hygiene, Toxicity and Food Additives Committee.

JAPAN/US: DEMAND FOR STALEY'S FRUCTOSE GROWING
Article Abstract:
Cultor Food Science handles the American fructose manufacturer Staley's fructose sales in Japan, where the use of fructose in soft drink hit products has increased. Staley is going to increase its production capacity by from 20% to 30% in order to meet this growing demand. The Japanese company Kato Kagaku and the American company ADM also supply fructose to Japan.
