JAPAN: KINDER FERRERO LAUNCHES KINDER SURPRISE

Nippon Ferrero changed marketing in Japan to Kanro in 1999 for its Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs which contain a small toy. It has followed its successful regional sales in 1998 with a national launch in 1999. There are 130 different toys which are frequently changed. The eggs are priced at [yen] 450 for a three-egg pack, or [yen] 150 for one egg. Nippon Ferrero has set a sales target of 70mn units in 1999.
