Mike Rowan

Mike Rowan, a native of Arlington, was part of a new generation of wine pioneers in Sonoma in early 1970s and helped lay groundwork for one of the country's best known wineries-Jordan. But now at 61, he says he feels complete and happy growing grapes on his 18-acre vineyard in Dry Creek Valley and tending to a friend's vines in Lake County.

Preston: A desire for diversity

Lou Preston says there's no model for his oil because he grows a potpourri of olive varieties. He scattered 1000 trees around the property, mostly Italian varieties such as Leccino, Casaliva and Frantonio, and other types such as Mission and Manzanillo are included in the mix.
