Sale of the century: a single-cellar sale at Christie's London breaks the all-time auction record

A 19,000-bottle private cellar auction held on Sep 18-19, 1997, brought in a record-breaking $11.3 million. The seller, who wished to remain anonymous, had such wines as 1947 Chateau Calon-Segur, 1947 Chateau Cheval-Blanc and other rare vintages.
