The prices of select wines sold at auction by Sotheby's, Christie's, Morrell and Co., and Zachys-Christie's in Dec 1999 are listed. Six magnums of Mouton-Rothschild 1945 sold for $70,700, the highest price received at auction. The price percentage changes varied greatly.

Summer heats up Burgundies and California "Cults"

Results of June wine auctions in New York, London, and Chicago are presented. Prices and competition continued to surge, with 2 rare bottles of Marcassin Pinot Noir 1987 going for $2,415. Some red Burgundies sold for up to three times top estimates, and a double magnum of Lafite 1900 garnered $28,160. A calendar of upcoming auctions is also included.
