Vintage paradox
Article Abstract:
Wine makers in the Bordeaux region of France forecast an increase in the price of Bordeaux wine produced in 1997. The forecast comes despite a decline in the quality of 1997 Bordeaux, which was brought about by the year's bad weather. Bordeaux produced in 1997 can be characterized by a relative decline in fruit and tannin concentrations, as compared to vintages from 1995 or 1996. According to Alain Vauthier, Bordeaux quality in 1997 can be characterized by unevenness brought about by unpredictable weather. The qualities of produce from different wineries are presented in the article.
