Virgin Cola was launched in the US in spring 1998 to give US consumers an alternative choice of cola. Virgin Cola is available in Virgin Cola Regular and Virgin Cola Diet, in 20-oz PET, 12-oz cans, 12 packs, 2-liter bottles and 6 packs. prices of Virgin Cola products are comparable to the prices of Pepsi and Coke. Likewise, Virgin Cola products will be initially distributed in convenience stores. Virgin Cola was first introduced in the UK in 1994, and currently the product accounts for a market share of 6.2% in the country. Prior to its entry into major markets in the US, Virgin Cola was launched in South Africa, Australia, France, Belgium and Japan.

Del Monte Foods launched in May 1998 its Fruit Smoothie Blenders that are available in a couple of flavors, Pineapple-Banana-Orange and Strawberry-Peach-Banana. The new product, which is simply combined with ice in a blender, can produce two eight-oz to nine-oz smoothies that contain fruit purees, natural flavors and real fruit. The homemade smoothies contain 100% of the suggested daily allowance of Vitamin C and are dairy-free and fat-free. The suggested retail price for a four-pack of 11-fl-oz cans is ranging from $5.49 to $5.89.
