The Wine Spectator 1998 white wine of the year is the Domaine Laroche Chablis Les Clos 1996. The Chablis is produced at the Domaine Laroche winery in Chablis, France. Owner Michel Laroche feels that the wine will be at its best between 2005 and 2015. The wine has natural sugar and acid levels and organic fertilizer is used for the soil.

The Chablis region of France produced some excellent wines for the 1994 vintage year. Heavy rains right before the September harvest caused concerns about the condition of the grapes, but the fruit was able to dry out before it was harvested.
