Doctors do not espouse the results of empirical findings for fear of displacing traditional theories which they have found comfortable and compatible with their preconceptions. This is seen in their reluctance to advocate moderate wine drinking despite evidence of its beneficial effect.

The Danish study: does alcohol matter?
Article Abstract:
The conclusion arrived at by Danish researcher Morten Gronbaek and his colleagues about the healthful effects of a daily diet of five glasses of wine, as opposed to beer or liquor, is welcome news to wine lovers. However, more research should be awaited to further support this finding.

It's a matter of taste

Many serious lovers of wine cannot distinguish between a good Pinot Noir from California and a good Burgundy. A wine tasting is described and several examples of the two types of wine are discussed. Wine and health is also mentioned.
