Dietary alpha-linoleic acid deficiency and early uterine development in female rats

Article Abstract:

A study was done on the effects of polyunsaturated fatty acids on postnatal uterine development. It was shown that dietary alpha linolenic acid exert a significant effect on the phospholipid fatty acid composition of rat uterus. It was further shown that feeding rats a purified diet deficient in alpha linolenic acid for three generations significantly affected early sexual development especially the ponderant weight of the growing uterus.

Dietary calcium modifies concentrations of lead and other metals and renal calbindin in rats

Article Abstract:

A study was done to determine the effects of different concentrations of dietary calcium on organ lead accumulation in rats chronically exposed to lead for long periods of time. Results show a decrease in organ lead concentrations with increasing dietary calcium. Lead was also shown to inhibit the increase of renal calbindin levels in animals fed with two and a half percent of calcium.
