The institutional fast foods in America that are open for all are caretaking and their future seems to be prosperous. The Loveless Motel and Cafe situated on the outskirts of Nashville, that was opened by Lon and Annie Loveless in 1951and, which was sold to Tom Morales, maintains the old staff and the traditional procedures of cooking.

'Sgt. White's Diner', a restaurant in Beaufort, South Carolina whose decorous marine bearing and plain, religious air expresses a man's principles as much as his cooking skills is presented. Although the food is homely, its presentation is uncannily neat that provides for a euphoric dining experience.

An account of a first trip to France by food and travel writers is presented. The French tend to eat at meal times and food is not necessarily available all day which proves to be a surprise. The trip finishes in Paris, where the driving proves challenging.
