Five A Day, Let's Eat and Play: a nutrition education program for preschool children

Article Abstract:

The Five A Day, Let's Eat and Play program was established nationwide to enhance the awareness and intake of fruits and vegetables among preschool children, ages 3 to 5 years. Real food experiences with fresh fruits and vegetables are the key to the children's successful learning. The 30-minute lessons were developed to be presented consecutively for a typical preschool environment. However, individual or combined lessons may be given as part of a group education to participants in other nutrition programs.

Impacts of a multi-layered nutrition education program: teenagers teaching children

Article Abstract:

Research determined the effects of a nutrition education program on the learning of teenagers which were assigned to teach nutrition to younger children. Results showed that the students who became nutrition teachers to younger children acquired substantial knowledge of nutrition themes and concepts and gained awareness of the deficiencies in their eating habits. However, the effects of such increased understanding on the food habits of students remain obscure.
