Ideology and national competitiveness

Article Abstract:

Ideologies influence nations in determining and achieving their goals. Thus, nations base their schemes on their prevailing ideology to address issues in areas such as business and government. Nations which practice communitarian ideologies seem to be more competitive in world economy than those who promote individualism. These competitive nations, mostly Eastern, exert pressure on the individualistic Western nations to alter their ideological base but the latter are still wary of change. The latter may not be prepared to give up individual autonomy in exchange for economic progress.

Functional polyacetylenes

Article Abstract:

A large variety of functional moieties are integrated into the molecular structure of polyacetylene (PA) by the direct polymerizations of functional monomers and the polymer reactions of performed polymers. The functionalization routes explored and the structural insights gained in this study offer versatile synthetic tools and valuable designer guidelines for further developments in the area.
