Nutrition in the management of cystic fibrosis
Article Abstract:
Proper nutrition can help reduce the risk of infection and increase survival in people with cystic fibrosis (CF). CF often leads to dysfunction of the pancreas, the gastric enzymes in the stomach, and poor absorbtion of food in the intestines. People with CF may receive supplementation of pancreatic enzymes and should consume a diet high in protein and energy, without limitations on fat intake. Vitamin supplementation may help avoid typical deficiencies in fat-soluble vitamins.
