Nutrition in the management of cystic fibrosis

Article Abstract:

Proper nutrition can help reduce the risk of infection and increase survival in people with cystic fibrosis (CF). CF often leads to dysfunction of the pancreas, the gastric enzymes in the stomach, and poor absorbtion of food in the intestines. People with CF may receive supplementation of pancreatic enzymes and should consume a diet high in protein and energy, without limitations on fat intake. Vitamin supplementation may help avoid typical deficiencies in fat-soluble vitamins.

Nordic nutrition policies: Finland case study

Article Abstract:

Changes in national nutritional policy in Finland during the twentieth century are highlighted. The National Nutrition Council has made significant strides in reducing fat intake and lowering risk for heart disease despite early opposition by the culturally and economically important agricultural industry. Consistent monitoring of the population's nutritional status has provided Finland with thorough national data.
